International Manufacturing Technology Show – Chicago – 2008

By any measure Caron Engineering’s participation in IMTS 2008 was a tremendous success. The staff at Caron Engineering Inc. (CEI) felt honored to meet so many existing and potential customers from around the world. As we all know, it is so much better when you can put a face with a name.

---

At the end of day one the President of Caron Engineering, Rob Caron, sent an email to all employees with the words “We had a great first day”. Derek Waterman, Mark Munroe, and Joel Tessier accompanied Rob at the show, while John Lightner and Sarah Johnson coordinated efforts back at the home office in Wells, Maine, This allowed the CEI staff in Chicago to demonstrate the new features of TMAC and AutoComp that involve remote monitoring. The visitors to the CEI booth were amazed at the prospect of being able to monitor machines around the world from any one location.

Caron Engineering made some new contacts and made some new sales. CEI has great relationships with its dealers and vendors and it showed, since so many IMTS Displayers and Visitors made it a point to stop by the Caron Engineering booth.

On day two of the show CEI employees received a second update from the boss that simply stated “Thanks to everyone for all of the extra effort. People are very impressed with Caron Engineering and its personnel”. Below is a picture of the Caron Engineering Booth at IMTS.

Through one of its primary resellers, Okuma, Caron Engineering sold a large number of TMAC Systems which are add-ons to the Okuma machine product line. Many potential customers sought out the Caron Engineering booth specifically to see the demos being done which seemed to be the talk of the show. While Caron Engineering does business with small and large companies alike, GE, Boeing, John Deere, and Caterpillar are just some of the big players that visited the booth and all were very impressed. One customer came to the booth because they wanted to visit all of the Partners in Thinc. After seeing the demonstration of TMAC and AutoComp they stated that this was the only thing they had seen at IMTS that impressed them.

In the last few days of the show Caron Engineering had fun trying to keep up with the number of people that wanted to see and talk about our solutions. They were also overwhelmed and proud of the positive feedback they got from so many different companies. For example, the president of Mori Seiki promised that Caron Engineering products would be certified under their Mori Seiki Qualified Vendor program right after the show. The Okuma sales force ensured that each of their customers came to see the products on display at the Caron Engineering booth and the Partners in Thinc booth. Rob Caron (President) was very proud when John and Pete Hanley, owners of Gosiger, made a point to tell him how much they appreciate the great work that all of the Caron Engineering employees do when working with Gosiger employees. Derek Waterman was pointed out specifically from a Hegman employee Shawn Xurvein as someone who has the finesse to work with those somewhat difficult customers. That’s just more proof that Caron Engineering hires a quality workforce that takes its cues from the President himself. Another email arrived from Rob that night saying: “We are being recognized by the biggest companies in the world and it’s all due to everyone’s hard work”.

Caron Engineering has moved into the global marketplace with a controlled, incremental strategy that ensures they can maintain the highest levels of customer service. As part of their strategy Caron Engineering has recently branched out into new markets like Argentina and Denmark. Through their existing partnerships with Okuma and Blum, TMAC and AutoComp are already on CNC machines in around the world in countries like Japan, Taiwan, Italy, Korea, Germany, Brazil, China, and Switzerland, to name a few. Caron Engineering will continue its steady growth in the years to come.

Some final remarks about the IMTS 2008 show:

From Mark Munroe (Sales):
WOW, for six days we have been on center stage, our reputation continues to build, with many of the builders now coming to us. We got a pile of leads and many orders from Okuma. As of Thursday they have sold 96 machines and our TMAC and/or AutoComp will be on almost all of them.

From Joel Tessier (Manager):
Hang on guys this show was more than what I thought it was going to be. Everyone I talked to was amazed with our systems and all the features. All of our existing customers could not say enough about the service they have received from the Caron staff, especially the on-the-road techs.

From Rob Caron, PE (President):
It is very evident from this show that Caron Engineering has become a global player and our products are considered to be the best in our field. I am very proud of everyone at Caron Engineering and each of you has impressed every company that we come in contact with. We are entering a new world of business and I am very confident that with the incredible capabilities and exceptional attitude that you all have, we will continue to move forward and dazzle the entire machining world.

Thank you all for your all of your effort and professionalism in representing our company. We are all exhausted and can’t wait to come home.
